About SCX.ai

SCX.ai is Australia's sovereign AI infrastructure provider, delivering high-performance, Australian-owned and operated AI services for businesses and government. We operate our own GPU infrastructure — including our Node 1 data centre — and build the models, tooling, and platform that sit on top of it. We're a small, fast-moving team working directly with founders and senior engineers on problems that matter for Australia's AI capability.

The Role

We're opening a generalist internship for students who want real exposure to how sovereign AI infrastructure gets built. You'll rotate across our core areas based on your interests and business need, working alongside the engineers who own these systems.

What You'll Work On

AI/ML engineering — model fine-tuning, evaluation, and applied LLM work
Infrastructure & DevOps — GPU cluster operations, deployment tooling, and reliability work supporting our data centre
Software engineering — backend and full-stack work across SCX products and internal platform tooling
Exposure to customer- and partner-facing technical work, depending on rotation and interest

What We're Looking For

Currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related degree
Strong programming fundamentals and a track record of shipping real projects (coursework, personal projects, hackathons, or open source)
Genuine curiosity about AI infrastructure, systems, or applied ML — we'll teach the specifics
Comfortable working in a small team with high autonomy and direct access to senior engineers
