Programming & Industry Intern Position Description:

Formed in 1993, Queer Screen has been a successful NFP organisation celebrating the diversity of sexualities and gender identities through queer storytelling on screen, by inclusive and respectful communities filled with creativity, inspiration and pride. Our team at Queer Screen has proudly produced and curated the Mardi Gras Film Festival for over 30 years!

The Programming & Industry intern position requires a commitment of 2 days per week, immediately and through to the end of February 2026, to support the Programming & Industry Manager.

These dates are flexible for the right candidate. The intern should currently be studying and, ideally, be required to complete an internship as part of their studies.

Summary of Duties and Skills Required:

The Queer Screen Programming & Industry Intern will support the delivery of the festival program and work closely with the Programming & Industry Manager. The role involves assisting with program research, data entry, copy preparation, fact-checking and proofreading for the upcoming Mardi Gras Film Festival 2026. You will also support the coordination of industry guests, panels, and events, as well as communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely information across festival materials and platforms.

Required Skills:

• Strong attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

• Proficiency in data entry and working with spreadsheets.

• Interest in film programming, research, and the screen industry.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience or interest in program research, creative thinking, and curatorial approaches.

• Basic understanding of media materials, copywriting, and editing workflows.

• Familiarity with WordPress and Ferve Ticketing Software, with basic knowledge of website CMS or ticketing platforms, is beneficial.

• Comfortable working in a diverse and inclusive environment and communicating respectfully with stakeholders.
