What makes GHD special?
Since 1928, GHD has been wholly owned by its employees. That ownership drives employees' passion and accountability in how they serve clients, deliver projects, and pursue new opportunities.
The sustained growth, direction and success of GHD is determined by the people who work at the company. Everything the company does is calibrated with the level of passion and professional pride associated with being private.
Social contribution
Community impact is important to GHD, influencing how people work and how they can give back. GHD in the Community is a program that partners with not-for-profit organisations so that GHD people can work on pro-bono projects, as well as volunteering and fundraising for philanthropic and humanitarian causes.
As a business, GHD also provides financial support to the GHD Foundation, a registered charity that addresses disadvantage and inequality in children accessing STEAM education in the countries where GHD people live and work.
Within GHD, employee groups and networks help people foster community, find their tribe, and celebrate what makes people unique. These groups play a big part in the company's global diversity, equity and inclusion strategy, creating spaces for meaningful and safe conversations, connecting with likeminded individuals, and creating a voice to leadership.
Career development
GHD's two-year Graduate Development Program is designed to give you a smooth start to your consulting career. You’ll get a broad look at the many career pathways available at GHD and have the chance to work in teams to help deliver exciting projects, contribute to bids and tenders, and even get hands-on with occasional site work.
Given the size of GHD and the scope of its operations, there are plenty of opportunities for professional development and career growth beyond your two years in the Graduate Development Program. GHD supports employees to attain professional accreditation in their discipline.
Employees also have access to the GHD Business School. This provides diverse learning opportunities that allow employees to acquire the experience and knowledge they need to grow and develop.
The Talent Exchange program is another great opportunity, moving people across different parts of the business (and locations, if that’s your aspiration) to share skills and knowledge.
Graduates can participate in GHD’s Young Professionals network, which mixes learning and global networking across a wide range of social, community and professional development activities.
Like all GHD employees, grads are encouraged to make use of their Career Pathways tool. This supports and guides employees to develop an impressive portfolio of skills and experiences, so they are well-positioned to advance their careers.
The vibe of the place
GHD may seem large but it's really just a community of unique and talented professionals, each committed to making energy, water and communities sustainable for generations to come. As a globally connected network, you can call on anyone to help you with a client challenge, get involved in a project, or learn more about a new opportunity.
No two projects are the same at GHD. One month you may be working on a community-shaping project like a new rail line, the next you might be working on an international development project. Wherever your skills apply, there's something for you. You may also have the opportunity to travel around New Zealand or internationally for some projects.
