Associate Project Management
Bachelor of Business and a Bachelor of Arts
What was the first 6 months like? What have you really enjoyed?
The six months were a whirlwind of new faces, names, and processes! My time was divided between meeting team members (who were all very welcoming), engaging in online training modules, and getting posted to a government client. What I have enjoyed most is the inclusive and supportive culture at DXC; I have been encouraged to always ask questions and not be afraid to make mistakes.
Was your position with the DXC Grad Programme as you expected it to be? Did anything take you by surprise?
For the most part, my position with the DXC Grad Program has been what I expected it to be. The structured training and supportive environment have been in line with what I had anticipated. However, one pleasant surprise has been the level of responsibility given to me early on; I have been given the opportunity to manage multiple small projects. This has proven to be very rewarding and has given me valuable hands-on experience.

What did you study? When did you graduate?
I studied at Macquarie University, completing a Bachelor of Business Leadership and Commerce degree in 2021.
Tell us a bit about yourself: Where did you grow up? Important stages of your life (school, education, experience abroad, jobs etc.)
I was born and raised in Western Sydney, aside from a year in primary school where I lived and went to school in Canada. I have worked in jobs across a number of industries before finding DXC Technology such as hospitality, tourism, education and the non-profit sector.
How did you come about applying for DXC and had you heard of DXC prior to applying?
I had heard of DXC Technology before applying for the role as the company's main Sydney office was located only a few minutes away from Macquarie University where I studied. Additionally, DXC Technology specialised and provided the option to combine my two passions, technology and consulting, which placed them on my list of desired jobs to apply for.
How did you choose your specialisation for the Graduate Programme? (compared to others)? Were you weighing up any other alternatives before choosing this area?
I had already had experience in the consulting space, having joined a non-profit consulting group during my time in university. Joining the business consulting specialisation as such seemed quite perfect for me.
What was your interview process like? What type of questions were you asked?
My interview process was surprisingly enjoyable and stress-free in comparison to some other assessment centres I went through. It flowed like a conversation with the interviewers being people who I now work and interact with, allowing me to know some people in my early weeks. Some of the topics we discussed, more than just being questions, were around my work history, where my strengths lie, what kind of work am I looking to do and the type of work culture I hope to be a part of.
Did you face any challenges along the way? Have you learned any lessons so far from this experience?
I have faced many challenges throughout my time on the graduate programme and in my current role, some of which have also become blessings. The biggest change from my time in university was the sudden shift to full time work, Monday to Friday, 8 hours a day. However, over the year, I have learnt to better manage my time and jobs which used to be difficult are now able to be completed much easier. One of the other greatest challenges I face is managing client interactions as every client and interaction has the potential to be completely different. Therefore, it is important to not only constantly work on building a good relationship with the client but to also manage that relationship to ensure both the client and project needs are met.
What are your key areas of responsibility?
For my current role and project, my key areas of responsibility are understanding the products and services DXC Technology has created and implemented for a client and then developing different materials and strategies to ensure the client can best use these products and services. However, my work responsibilities will change from client to client as each project has a different solution and I may be working on it at an entirely different point in the project's life cycle.
Can you describe your typical work day?
My workday usually starts off by checking my emails and Microsoft Teams messages and actioning them where possible. I will then work on finishing up any small tasks I had not completed the day prior before I have daily catch-up meetings with my internal project team, followed by a meeting with the client. The rest of the day is usually self-managed where I am working on my project tasks and messaging/meeting with the client or my team as needed. However, some days may have more scheduled meetings and on these days, managing your time is especially important to find time to work.
What would you like to achieve in your career at DXC?
This job can help me further my skills and career in the consulting industry. This career path will one day grant me opportunities to lead teams and projects which I am really looking forward to.
What do you love the most about your job?
The thing I love the most about this job is the people I work with. With every project being different, being surrounded by extremely knowledgeable, experienced and supportive team members (not to mention managers), ensures that my workday always has enjoyable moments, and I am able to continue to complete work that I enjoy.
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about applying for the DXC Graduate Programme?
Do it! The DXC Graduate Programme has been an exceptional experience for me from day one and I don't hold any regrets from applying. Plus, the company has many opportunities to rotate to different projects and departments internally, so while researching into the specialistion you apply for is important, you do have the ability to experience another team or role later on if you so choose.

What did you study? When did you graduate?
I studied a Bachelor of Commerce, graduating in 2022.
How did you choose your specialisation for the Graduate Program? (compared to others)? Were you weighing up any other alternatives before choosing this area?
Choosing a path within the grad program can feel overwhelming, with so many options available and the pressure to make the “right” choice. However, it’s reassuring to know that your decision isn’t final. DXC is highly accommodating and committed to placing you in a role that aligns with your interests and strengths. Initially, I was tossing up between Business Consulting and Project Management. The DXC website offers a helpful breakdown of pathways, which I found valuable when choosing the best fit for me.
What was your interview process like? What type of questions were you asked?
The interview process was surprisingly smooth and enjoyable! First, I had to complete an online psychometric assessment. Then, I participated in an online assessment centre, which included a group task, a presentation, and an individual interview with my now manager. The individual interview was quite stress-free and consisted of a mix of behavioural and situational questions. Even though I was very nervous about the group assignment and presentation, it was a lot of fun. After that, I had one more individual interview, which felt more like a conversation.
Did you face any challenges along the way? Have you learned any lessons so far from this experience?
A challenge I faced was balancing the study demands of multiple certifications with my project tasks. Initially, it was difficult to prioritise learning over seemingly more urgent and engaging work. However, I’ve since learned the importance of effective time management and now dedicate mornings to project work and afternoons to study.
What are your key areas of responsibility?
In my current role, I document end-to-end processes and apply Microsoft expertise to meet client requirements. These responsibilities will evolve with each project as I continue to build my knowledge and capabilities.
Can you describe your typical workday?
My typical workday starts with checking emails, reviewing upcoming tasks and meetings, and organising my schedule. I attend internal and client meetings, follow up on assigned tasks, and enjoy the flexibility of the remaining time for certificate study, supporting the Social Impact Practice, or catching up with other grads over coffee.
What would you like to achieve in your career at DXC?
To establish a strong skill set and expand my professional network with colleagues and clients.
What do you love the most about your job?
What I love most about my job is the collaborative environment and the chance to work on diverse projects that make a real impact. I enjoy the continuous learning opportunities and support from my team, which motivates me to grow and develop my skills.
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about applying for the DXC Graduate Program?
I highly recommend applying to DXC for anyone interested in the tech industry. DXC provides a great opportunity to experience a wide range of projects across many industries. The graduate team is very supportive in helping you find a job aligned with your interests.
GradConnection Burning Questions
Can you let us know what company you are working for and which area of the business you work in or which rotation you are currently in?
I work for DXC Technology in the DXC Practice for Microsoft.
What was the first 6 months like? What have you really enjoyed?
The first six months involved extensive learning and training, participating in various groups within DXC, and spending time with the other graduates in the program.
Everyone is keen on maintaining work/life balance; with that in mind, what is the longest day you have put in, and have you worked weekends at all?
One of the standout benefits of working at DXC is its flexibility. I currently go into the office 2-3 days a week and work from home the rest of the time. Since our work is project-based, there are periods when things can get quite busy; the latest I've worked is until 6 or 7 pm. However, there are also times when the workload is lighter, allowing me to focus on my learning and development. I’ve never had to work on weekends.
What sort of support are you provided at DXC?
In my team, I have the support of a Microsoft grad manager and a buddy who assists me with my learning throughout the year. Currently, I'm working with a mentor helping me develop my skills as a functional consultant. Additionally, the DXC grad team is always available to support onboarding, career planning, and development, ensuring I have the necessary resources to succeed.
What skills do you think you need to succeed in your role and do they differ from what you envisioned?
Almost all roles at DXC demand strong communication skills, and my position particularly emphasises effective writing and documentation, relationship-building, and verbal communication abilities.
What are the best perks or benefits at DXC?
The top two perks of working at DXC are the flexibility of remote work and the fun culture of the Sydney Early Careers Community. I really enjoy seeing everyone in the office each week and participating in game nights and social events.

Bachelor of Commerce
What did you study? When did you graduate?
Commerce - 2022
Tell us a bit about yourself: Where did you grow up? Important stages of your life (school, education, experience abroad, jobs etc.)
I grew up in rural Victoria, going to Primary and secondary school there. I studied university in Melbourne to then applying for a position at DXC in the Sydney team. While growing up I was active in soccer, badminton and futsal.
How did you come about applying for DXC and had you heard of DXC prior to applying?
Prior to applying I hadn't heard of DXC, but luckily I saw it on various graduate programme websites. Upon finding out about DXC and seeing they had a Data and Analytics practice I knew it would be great fit for me.
How did you choose your specialisation for the Graduate Programme? (compared to others)? Were you weighing up any other alternatives before choosing this area?
I always knew I wanted to work with Data - my appreciation first started when I got experience with data visualization.
What was your interview process like? What type of questions were you asked?
Leading up to the interview I was quite nervous. But in the actual interview, the people conducting the interview made me feel extremely comfortable and allowed me to be myself and express my skills and thoughts freely. I was mainly asked Behavioral questions with some situational questions.
Did you face any challenges along the way? Have you learned any lessons so far from this experience?
It was a big learning curve going from Uni life to working full time. The main challenge was finding time for doing the things I loved during uni and all the free time i used to have. The main lesson I learnt to work through that challenge was time management and to make time to do the things i love (going on weekend hikes, after work sports)
What are your key areas of responsibility?
Currently I am on a data migration project to design a solution that will upshift our client’s databases into a cloud-based solution. As part of my role, I need to be knowledgeable in the cloud-based solution that we plan to migrate to I need to be ready to research and learn as much as I can then present any findings to my senior and client to discuss how it can benefit them and its implementation process. All project documentation we must be up to date, and clean, therefore after presenting a document I like to add a short summary and link to the original file. In doing this I collate all the files in one area to ensure ease of access for myself and the client if we ever need to refer to a previous document.
Can you describe your typical work day?
I start off every day by going through emails and checking any messages I may have missed. Typically, my day will start off with a meeting with my senior where we will discuss our plan of attack for the day. Depending on how busy we I will either be working on the tasks we discussed by creating diagrams, decks or presenting information. If the day is quiet, I would use the time to undertake training courses in areas I’m interested in that I could be useful in the future.
What would you like to achieve in your career at DXC?
To gain as much exposure, experience and skills as I can during the Graduate programme. Upon finishing the programme, I want to be able to provide unique value to the Analytics practice and clients.
What do you love the most about your job?
One of the best parts about my job is being able to interact with and learn from such great minds. Being in an environment where we are encouraged to reach out to share ideas and thoughts is awesome.
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about applying for the DXC Graduate Programme?
- If a task makes you nervous or scared that’s a good sign! It means you are learning something new and developing yourself and you just need to think of it that way!
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help, everyone is always happy to help! You just got to ask. With regard to the Grad Programme, try reaching out to a current graduate currently in the team you wish to join on LinkedIn
- Make the effort to branch out and make new connections. Things won’t fall into your lap if you are the wait and see kind of person. You must be ready to ask for help or say yes to opportunities.
