Do you see yourself in government? Because we do.

If you are community-minded, resilient, and curious to learn how your knowledge and skills can be applied in a digital and technological environment, you’ve come to the right place.

The GovTech Talent Graduate Programme is one of the most flexible and varied opportunities available.

Over the course of 18 months, the programme includes placements in two different government agencies, giving you the chance to explore a variety of projects, organisations and career pathways within the public service – focusing on digital initiatives.

No IT degree? No problem – you just need a passion for making a difference.

Are you a match?

We champion diversity in government, empowering socially and digitally minded New Zealanders from all backgrounds. We are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.

Our ideal candidate is curious, resilient, eager to learn, has a strong work ethic, and is motivated to make a positive impact for New Zealanders.

We’re looking for graduates from a wide range of fields, including psychology, linguistics, political science, business analysis, cybersecurity, design, software development, and more. You could be working in roles such as project manager, data analyst, scrum master, policy analyst, developer, UX designer, cloud specialist, or cyber security specialist, to name a few.

We also value skills and experience gained outside of work – we want to hear about any cultural activities, community work, sports, volunteering, or your roles across different sectors or industries.

If you think you’re a little ‘outside the box’ or that you may not normally apply for this type of opportunity, we strongly encourage you to apply. We want people just like you to reflect the diversity of Aotearoa in the public service.

Are you a Māori or Pacific Peoples graduate ready to make an impact?

We’re committed to increasing digital pathways for Māori and Pacific Peoples and actively supporting your success in the programme.

Your perspective will help create meaningful change, improve outcomes for whānau, iwi, hapū, and wider communities, and ensure the voices and aspirations of Māori and Pacific Peoples are heard and valued in Aotearoa’s digital future — so we can all thrive and prosper together.

Believe in your potential – join us in shaping a better tomorrow for everyone.
