Our Graduate Program

Being such a large and diverse organisation, we have a vast range of pathways for you to choose from, no matter your degree discipline. We’re interested in you if you are passionate about developing your skills, taking hold of opportunities and meeting the needs of our customers.

How does the Graduate Program work?

You’ll start with us in February for a thorough orientation. All our programs are rotational and can be tailored to your needs and interests, allowing you to either specialise or take advantage of very broad and diverse experiences to help you learn about the different areas of the business so you can decide where you want to take your career.

You’ll benefit from dedicated support and mentoring from senior team members in a diverse and collaborative environment.
In addition to your tailored program within your respective business stream, you will be joining our award-winning CommBank Graduate Development Program. Along with more than a hundred graduates from across CommBank, you’ll receive industry-leading personal and professional development training designed to transition you out of University and fast-track your career.

In your first year with us you’ll attend three development conferences delivered by industry experts, covering a range of topics from Delivering Effective Feedback and Business Writing to Mindfulness and Whole Self Living. Throughout the conferences you’ll hear from CommBank speakers including our Executive General Managers, and broaden your networks at our social events.

Along with these conferences you’ll have the chance to expand and hone your talents through a line-up of monthly masterclasses, each supported by hand-picked, on-demand content and social learning platforms.

Grads who play together, stay together.

That’s why we provide opportunities to get involved in community events and projects with your peers from our Global business. Our graduate projects gain high exposure, and could see you selected to present your innovative idea to our senior leaders, with a view to being seed-funded and explored on a practical level in our Innovation Lab.

Our Summer Intern Program

How does the Summer Intern Program work?

You’ll start with us late November and our 10-week Program gives you a taste of what it’s really like to work with us. You’ll be given full support and training to help you decide if CommBank is the right fit for you.

You’ll enjoy an intensive introduction to life at CommBank, learn how we operate, get involved in great projects and meet inspirational people who’ll help you put your career on the right path.

At the end of the Program, you’ll have the opportunity to apply early for our Graduate Program for the following year.

Eligibility

Visa requirements

You must have Australian/New Zealand citizenship or Australian permanent residency when you submit your application. Unfortunately temporary visa holders are not eligible for our programs. If you’re a New Zealand citizen, please note your Australian eligibility to work is not activated until you enter the country. You must be based in Australia to work with us.

Vaccination Policy

CommBank has always been committed to keeping our people and our customers safe, and that extends to having a COVID-safe workplace. All CommBank employees are expected to show proof of their up-to-date vaccination prior to starting with the Group.

Minimum credit average

To be considered we ask for a minimum overall standing of 65% grade point average.

Graduate applications

To be eligible, you must be in the final year of a university undergraduate or postgraduate degree or have completed your university studies within the past 12 months of applying. This is from the time you complete your final unit or subject, not 12 months from your graduation date.

Summer Intern applications

To be eligible, you must be in the penultimate (second-last) year of a university undergraduate or postgraduate degree (inclusive of Honours year and double degree). You’re still considered to be in the second-last year of your studies if you only have a few subjects left to complete in first semester of the next year.

Postgraduate applications

We accept applications from undergraduate or postgraduate students.

We offer a range of graduate opportunities for a wide variety of degree disciplines, including Business, Commerce, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Studies, Marketing, Arts, Law, IT, Computer Science, Design, Human Resource Management, Psychology, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics and Science. Our 2022 Grad cohort features over 241 different personalities from 60 majors, 35 universities, across 22 programs and 17 locations.

How to apply

You should apply for our Graduate and Summer Intern Programs online. If your initial application is successful, you’ll have the chance to complete some online assessments, a digital interview, and then possibly visit one of our Assessment Centres for a face-to-face meeting with our team.
