The role
The role is based in Palmerston North reporting directly to the General Counsel, this role is a rare gem of an opportunity that will allow you to grow your legal skills! 
 
As a generalist in-house Legal Counsel based at Toyota New Zealand’s Head Office in Palmerston North this role will offer you loads of variety. No two days will be the same as this role will include elements of consumer law, privacy matters, employment law and much more!  
 
As someone with up to 4 years PQE OR someone close to finishing their degree full support and mentorship will be given to ensure your success.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
  • Providing legal advice to Toyota New Zealand in order to maintain legal compliance across all facets of the business
  • Supporting the General Counsel with legal (and quasi legal) issues when they arise
  • Contract management including the preparation, review and negotiation of new and renewing contracts
  • Management of expiring and significant contracts to minimise risk exposure
  • Writing, assessing and amending promotional terms and conditions which align with current Toyota NZ campaigns and the relevant law
About You
This role is suited to someone who has either have up to 4 years PQE OR someone who is currently studying full time but is close to completing their law degree (ideally in your last semester). 
 
Along this you will:
  • Have a good level of legal compliance knowledge
  • Be able to provide support in dealing with legal issues 
  • Have the knowledge to provide legal recommendations based on New Zealand Law and Legislation to Toyota New Zealand 
  • Be able to build strong relationships and communicate with internal and external stakeholders at multiple levels
  • Have excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with others in the organisation in a fast-moving environment
