Correspondence Officer, Office of the Chief Executive

Are you motivated to use your writing and organisational skills to support the running of a health district?

South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is looking for an enthusiastic and skilled team member to join the Executive Services team in the Office of the Chief Executive on a permanent, full-time basis.

This role might suit a recent graduate, soon-to-be graduate or post graduate student looking for full-time work and interested in the health or government sector.

What you'll be doing

As a Correspondence Officer, you will be supporting the Chief Executive through the timely and efficient management of briefings, correspondence and ministerial requests.
Working as part of a collaborative Executive Services team, you will review and quality assure briefings and letters, draft routine and non-complex ministerial responses, coordinate requests, monitor progress, and ensure signed correspondence is issued on time.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work with a range of stakeholders while contributing to the effective operation of a large organisation.

Who we are looking for

This role will suit someone with strong writing and editing skills, who enjoys applying their organisational skills and has good attention to deal. The role will involve working independently on your own tasks, with guidance, support and collaboration with the team.

The office can be fast-paced at times, with strict deadlines to meet, and will fit someone who can prioritise their workload well and who brings a flexible approach to their work. In return, you will learn about how a health district functions at a high level and have opportunities to learn from staff across the organisation.

Prior experience in health or government roles is not essential, however the role will suit someone who is a quick learner and can adapt to the systems and processes we use in our organisation.

Detailed training and support will be provided to assist the successful applicant to learn the various tasks involved in the role.

Work hours and location

This role is a permanent, full-time position, working 38 hours per week during business hours, Monday to Friday. There is some flexibility with the start and finish time for the role.

The role is based across two locations, Sutherland Hospital in Caringbah and Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital in the Sydney CBD. The role will work across both locations through the week.

The role is primarily based in the office, but there are also opportunities to work remotely.

The role is available now for a start date to be negotiated in October or November 2026.
