Responsibilities
Contribute to Sicona’s long-term objective to deliver high performance battery materials at mass market scale, without costing the earth.
• Operate pilot plant assets to meet safety, quality and performance KPIs
• Monitor and adjust process parameters, analyse deviations in product quality; and troubleshoot operational issues.
• Support process optimisation through data analysis and a strong understanding of equipment and process behaviour.
• Assist with the design, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning of equipment.
• Participate in maintenance, turnaround and inspection (T&I) activities where required.
• Prepare clear operational and engineering reports, documentation, and drawings, providing recommendations and follow-up actions where necessary.
• Liaise with contractors, suppliers and other third parties as required.
• Support inventory management, project coordination and general pilot plant activities.
• Live and breathe our safety-first culture, reporting hazards, near misses; following WHS requirements, HAZOPs, and risk assessments; and managing chemicals and waste according to procedures.
What You will need to Succeed:
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical/Process, Mechanical, Electrical or related engineering
• A practical, solution-focused mindset with the ability to manage changing priorities.
• A collaborative team player with the ability to take independent initiative when required
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and report writing skills
• A drive to learn, innovate, improve, and be part of something meaningful.
• Comfort with digital tools (e.g MS Office)
Even Better If You Have
• Experience in process operations, pilot plant, manufacturing or materials handling
• Familiarity with Mass & Energy Balance, PFDs, P&IDs, troubleshooting procedures
• Exposure to commissioning, troubleshooting, or equipment testing
• Experience with chemical handling, gas systems, or analytical equipment
• Knowledge of Working in Hazardous Areas Classifications, HAZOP or risk assessments
• Safety training (e.g first aid, fire safety, forklift, working at heights) – training can be provided
