Part-Time Math Tutor
Location: Face-to-face, Various schools in Sydney
Job Type: Part-Time (Temp or Permanent)
Salary: $60 - $80 + Super/ hour
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Maths Tutor to provide small-group tutoring sessions for students ranging from Years K - 6. This is a part-time role ideal for individuals who enjoy teaching and helping students improve their mathematical skills. Our objective is to raise the standard of maths at the foundational level, to provide individual support in a group environment so that students achieve their personal best.
Responsibilities
- Provide engaging and effective math tutoring sessions based on student needs.
- Explain complex concepts in a clear and simple manner.
- Assist students with homework, test preparation, and problem-solving techniques.
- Track student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
- Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment.
- Communicate appropriately with various stakeholders in a school community while on-site (school staff, administrative staff, parents and carers, students)
- Able to lead a team of tutors during a lesson
Requirements
- Strong proficiency and proven success in in mathematics, a degree in Mathematics or related STEM field [such as Computer Science, Engineering, Actuarial etc...]
- Comfortable with all aspects of primary school mathematics, including OC and Selective Preparation - Mathematical Reasoning and Thinking Skills (or willingness to learn)
- Previous tutoring or teaching experience
- Patience, communication skills, and the ability to motivate students.
- Access to own transport/ car to be able to go on-site to various locations across Sydney, currently including Ultimo, Newtown, Glebe, Marrickville, Mosman and Malabar.
- Fluency in English
- Working with Children Check (or willingness to get one)
- First Aid Certificate (or willingness to get one)
- Availability 3 - 5 PM, to be on-site by 3 PM.
