About the Role 

We are seeking an exceptional and motivated final-year law student to join our team as a Legal Research Assistant (Casual). This paid, flexible role is ideal for high-performing students who wish to deepen their research and legal writing skills while working on real-world commercial dispute and insolvency matters. 

As a Legal Research Assistant, you will: 

  • Conduct detailed research into litigation, insolvency, corporate and commercial law issues. 
  • Support the development of legal commentary, internal resources, and thought leadership materials. 
  • Assist with drafting, reviewing, and editing legal articles, practice guides, and knowledge assets. 

This role provides valuable exposure to complex legal issues, mentorship from experienced practitioners, and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the firm’s knowledge development. Based in Sydney, the position offers flexible working hours and hybrid arrangements to accommodate academic commitments. We prioritise high-quality outcomes and are supportive of flexible work practices in this role, provided tasks are completed to a high standard. 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate law degree at an Australian university. 
  • In your final year of study, with a strong academic record in Corporate Law. 
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear, structured, and well-reasoned legal writing. 
  • Strong legal research skills, including critical analysis of primary and secondary legal materials. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • High academic achievement in Insolvency Law or related electives. 
  • Experience contributing to legal journals, blogs, or published legal writing. 
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet competing deadlines with precision. 
  • A genuine interest in litigation, restructuring, and corporate law. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and prepare written summaries on issues related to litigation, insolvency, and commercial law. 
  • Assist in drafting and refining legal articles, practice notes, and internal research content. 
  • Collaborate with lawyers to develop materials for client updates and firm-wide knowledge sharing.
