About the placement

This internship is with Xeros Piccolo Consulting Engineers and is facilitated by the CSIRO’s Generation STEM Links program.

As a Structural or Civil Engineering intern at Xeros Piccolo Consulting Engineers, you will gain hands-on experience by actively contributing to various projects with the team in Wagga Wagga. This internship offers a comprehensive, project-based experience where you will be involved from the ideation phase to the completion of a range small-scale to large-scale projects. The chosen intern will participate in current projects including working on ongoing projects, providing support and contributing to their progress, reviewing the scope of works and documents by analysing projects, technical documents, and relevant reports to understand project requirements and specifications. In addition, the intern will attend site visits to gain practical insights into project execution and on-ground challenges and prepare engineering designs that comply with Australian Standards, ensuring quality and safety in every aspect.

Work arrangements

• Start date: Flexible- ideally asap
• Working arrangement: Full time 200 hours on a fixed term contract, with the possibility for further employment for the right candidate
• Remuneration: $25/hour plus super on a temporary contract with Xeros Piccolo Consulting Engineers
• Location: Wagga Wagga, NSW

Desired capabilities

• Studying Structural or Civil Engineering
• Knowledge of structural or civil engineering practices and principles
• A white card is beneficial but not essential
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is advantageous
• Knowledge of Australian Standards – AS 1170 Loading Code, AS 2870 Residential Slabs and Footings Code and AS 4100 Steel Structures Code.

Requirements

• Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
• Must be in your penultimate or final year of an undergraduate or TAFE qualification.
• Ideally the student is from regional NSW in the Riverina area.
