Job Description

Azaneo are seeking a skilled and innovative Mechatronic Engineering Intern to join our growing team. The successful candidate will primarily focus on the development, optimization of our first gen, pulsed electrical weeding system.

This role will require field, office, and laboratory work. Aiding in deploying software, hardware, and mechanical systems in the ag-tech space.

Key Responsibilities

 

The mechatronics intern will be responsible for supporting the design and development of R&D prototypes. The intern will work closely with the engineering team to perform the following duties:

 

  1. Server and control software. All the way from sensor input to backend and front-end control software. (if interested computer vision and AWS might be required).

 

  1. Electrical wiring, soldering and schematics, basic wiring diagrams all the way through to PCB design if required.

 

  1. CAD design, across in house fab (3D print, laser and CNC) to external manufacturing.

 

  1. Programming, e.g. Linux, Python, JavaScript, HTML; must have programmed RPI or Microcontroller, VS-Code, Docker, GIT, Balena.

 

  1. Support field testing, scientific experiments, and data analysis.

 

  1. Support documentation of engineering design, specifications and procedures.

 

Required Qualifications and Skills

  1. 3rd year and above in a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mechatronic, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  2. Control Systems and Software:
    1. Experience in developing server and control software for managing sensor inputs and executing backend to frontend processes.
    2. Interest in computer vision and cloud services (AWS knowledge is a plus).
  3. Electrical Design:
    1. Proficiency in electrical wiring, creating schematics, and developing basic to advanced wiring diagrams.
    2. Basic understanding on what a PCB is and integrating components through to modules.
  4. CAD and Fabrication:
    1. Basic proficiency in Fusion or Solidworks for design tasks and preparing models for both in-house fabrication (including 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC machining) and external manufacturing.
  5. Programming Expertise:
    1. Strong programming abilities in languages including Python, JavaScript, and HTML. Must be confident in these.
    2. Must be experienced in version control using Github (branches/push etc).
  6. Professional Skills:
    1. Demonstrated rapid prototyping abilities and experience working in an agile environment.
    2. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    3. Proven ability to work effectively both independently and within a team setting.
