About Aegyra

Aegyra is a Sydney-based digital health startup developing software for eye care professionals. We are building modern clinical tools that improve how ophthalmic data are managed, analysed and used in everyday practice.

The role

We are looking for a motivated graduate or final-year student in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline to help turn an existing working prototype into a production-ready application.

You will work directly with the clinician founder and have meaningful involvement across the product, rather than working on a small component of a large development team.

The role will involve:

• Developing and refining a React/TypeScript frontend
• Building Python-based application and data-processing components
• Working with REST APIs, JSON, SQLite and PostgreSQL
• Contributing to Windows and macOS desktop deployment
• Using Git/GitHub for collaborative development and version control
• Testing, debugging and improving existing functionality
• Using modern AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding and problem-solving
• Helping establish a maintainable software architecture as the product develops

About you

We are particularly interested in someone who is technically curious, learns quickly and enjoys building real products. You do not need extensive commercial experience.

Experience with React/TypeScript, Python, SQL, APIs or Git would be valuable. Familiarity with Electron, cloud infrastructure or AI coding tools is desirable but not essential.

You should be comfortable using AI to assist development while being able to understand, test and critically review generated code.
